05
Journey character
The landscape changes almost every day, with road travel, scenic stops, boat journeys and substantial outdoor visits.
Expect extended walking, steps, inclines, boardwalks and uneven mountain or canyon surfaces across several days.
Private ground transport connects the route, supported by local guidance and scenic boat journeys where the landscape calls for it.
Mountains, rivers, wetlands, gorges and geology form the backbone, with history and regional culture adding context along the way.
Bring supportive walking shoes and clothing for changing mountain conditions. Your planner will align the daily rhythm with your group while preserving the defining landscapes of the route.
06
Make it yours
Use the full westward route as the backbone, then choose where nature, river travel or geology should receive more time.
Give more time to forest walks, highland viewpoints, wetland light and the ecological character of the mountain region.
Increase the emphasis on boat journeys, gorge viewpoints and the human stories attached to the Yangtze and its tributaries.
Expand the canyon and geology focus with additional time for karst landscapes and local Tujia culture.
